Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours and location?

Our centre is open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6:30pm. We are located at 424 Racecourse Road, Flemington. Drop-off is from 7:30-10:30am, and pick-up is from 3:30-6:30pm.

What are the requirements for admission?

We welcome dogs as young as 10 weeks old, provided they have had their first vaccination and are continuing their vet’s recommended vaccination schedule. All dogs must have their C5 vaccinations up to date and recorded in our Gingr portal before attending.

Dogs must be in good health and well socialised to ensure a positive and safe experience for everyone at day care.

We provide a gentle, supportive environment for puppies. Puppies between 10 and 20 weeks are chaperoned by staff during play to ensure safe and positive socialisation experiences.

We also prioritise plenty of rest, with dedicated chill-out rooms for naps and quiet time during the day. Puppies are given extra breaks away from the group to recharge, and we create a calm atmosphere with soft lighting, blankets, and cuddles to help them feel secure and comfortable.

What is your desexing policy?

Dogs under 12 months do not need to be desexed to attend. For dogs older than 12 months who are not desexed, we require a simple letter from your vet explaining the reason. As long as there are no behavioural issues linked to being entire — such as excessive marking, humping, or aggression — we are happy to accommodate.

Female dogs in heat must stay home until their cycle is finished to protect the health and comfort of all dogs in our care.

How do you introduce new dogs to day care?

We ask new dogs to start with a half-day visit so we can assess their suitability. We prefer these assessments on Monday, Thursday, or Friday afternoons when numbers are lower and our dog trainers are on site. This requirement can be waived on a case-by-case basis.

During an assessment, we pair your dog with suitable playmates, starting in our mixed pen. We may move them during the day to find their best fit. Once we learn more about their personality, we might place them in a group such as our Active Pen for more energetic dogs.

What is your approach to behaviour and play?

We understand that not all dogs enjoy high-energy group play. Some prefer quieter activities, watching from the sidelines, or spending time with staff. We cater for different personalities and energy levels, offering quieter days, one-on-one confidence building, and personalised attention.

If we feel day care is not suitable for your dog, we will discuss the best next steps for them. Our focus is always on each dog's individual well-being, not just numbers through the door.

How often should my dog attend?

That’s up to you, but we find most dogs benefit from regular attendance. Many dogs come on the same days each week, which helps build strong friendships and a comfortable routine.

What should I bring?
  • A flat collar (martingale collars are fine for sighthounds)

  • Any required medication

  • Food if your dog is on a special diet or is a puppy needing lunch (bring lunch in a labelled plastic container)

  • Jackets or jumpers if needed (please choose ones suitable for play that can get dirty or damaged.

Toys and other personal items are best left at home, as we have plenty here

What happens if my dog is unwell?

If your dog is unwell, please keep them home. We cannot accept sick dogs, and this helps protect the health of all dogs in our care. If your dog becomes unwell during the day, we may place them in a rest area and contact you to collect them. If we cannot reach you and veterinary attention is needed, we have an agreement with Advance Vet Care in Flemington and will transport your dog there.

If your dog misses a booking due to illness, you are welcome to rebook once they are better. We may waive late cancellation fees for genuine illness, but we reserve the right to apply fees if illness is used as a reason to avoid charges.

What kind of enrichment do you provide?

We use activities that tap into natural dog behaviours, such as snuffle mats, snuffle toys, Kongs, treat dispensers, tumblers, busy boxes, and water play in summer (like doggy pools). We occasionally use homemade food items like pumpkin puree or dog-safe fruits and veggies.

We use a colour-coded collar system to ensure dogs with food sensitivities only receive approved foods. You can also bring your dog's special diet, and we will prepare enrichment using that.

What is your staff-to-dog ratio?

Our centre can take up to 50 dogs a day across 3 pens. Staffing depends on numbers, but we always ensure there are staff on site supervising and our entire centre is covered by CCTV for internal use. We have no more than a 1:15 ratio however most of the time it is more like 1:10.

Do you offer grooming?

We do not offer full grooming services, but we can provide low-stress exit baths. We can help desensitise dogs who dislike baths or dryers, and some regulars who don’t enjoy being bathed still tolerate it well for us. We can also do simple nail trims for dogs who are comfortable with the process. If your dog is not, we recommend visiting a professional groomer. We do not charge extra for baths or simple nail trims.

Do you accommodate dogs with special needs or extra requirements?

Absolutely! We understand that every dog is unique, and some may have special needs or require extra care. Whether your dog has health issues, mobility challenges, anxiety, or dietary restrictions, we’re here to work with you.

Please share any relevant information about your dog’s needs when booking. We may ask for a vet letter if needed, especially for medical conditions or behaviour concerns.

Our experienced staff will provide personalised support, including:

  • Quiet time or one-on-one attention

  • Special rest breaks in our chill-out rooms

  • Modified play and enrichment activities

  • Assistance with medication administration

  • Careful monitoring during their time with us

Our priority is your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness. If we ever feel day care isn’t the right fit for your dog’s well-being, we will discuss the best options with you.
