Small Group Adventures – Summer 2026

4 to 4.5 hour outings across Melbourne’s best dog-friendly locations. Max 6 dogs per group.

Our Small Group Adventures are designed to provide safe off site exploration, enrichment, and structured fun in some of Melbourne’s best dog-friendly locations. Each outing includes pick up, drop off, tailored care, on and off leash movement where appropriate, and a full adventure report card so you know exactly how much joy your dog had that day.

• Pick ups: 9:45am-10:30am
• Adventure: approx 10:30am-1:45pm
• Drop offs: 2:00pm-2:45pm
• Max 6 dogs per group
• 1 qualified staff member
• Full report card included
• Some locations off leash, some on leash
• All dogs must meet HPWT intake criteria

Altona Dog Beach

Altona Dog Beach is loved for its expansive tidal flats where dogs can splash, zoom, and explore with confidence. The shallow shoreline stretches for ages, giving pups plenty of safe room to roam while owners enjoy stunning bay and city views. It is a relaxed, social environment with good facilities like taps and rinse-off areas. Best suited to active, water-loving dogs with reliable recall.

Afton St Conservation Hike

Afton St Conservation Park offers peaceful on lead trails with gentle hills, quiet pockets, and breathtaking views across both the city skyline and the Maribyrnong River. It is a fantastic choice for dogs who thrive on structured movement and mental engagement. The natural bush setting provides nonstop sniffari opportunities without heavy foot traffic. Ideal for physically fit dogs who enjoy a good challenge and benefit from longer, purposeful walks.

The Warmies features a generous off leash section along calm water, making it a favourite for dogs who love to wade, potter, and explore freely. The area offers wide open space, gentle water access, and plenty of sensory interest from shorebirds and natural textures. It is relaxed, quiet on weekdays, and excellent for confident beach dogs. Best suited to social and water-inclined pups with good recall.

Guilfoyle’s Volcano

Guilfoyle’s Volcano in the Royal Botanic Gardens is a unique on lead adventure with winding paths, elevated boardwalks, and views overlooking ornamental wetlands. Dogs enjoy varied terrain, restful shady spots, and a calm environment perfect for curious explorers. It is visually stunning and offers endless photo opportunities. Great for dogs who enjoy a steady, enriching walk in new environments.

Stepping Stones Maribyrnong River

This section of the Maribyrnong River combines scenic waterside trails with designated off leash pockets for free play. The famous stepping stones make for fun confidence-building moments and great photos, while the surrounding parkland provides open space for sniffing and exploring. It delivers the perfect blend of structure and freedom. Best suited to confident, social dogs who enjoy a mix of on and off leash time.

Altona Dog Beach

Another chance to visit one of our most loved summer locations. With wide open tidal flats and safe, shallow water, this off leash beach gives dogs the chance to dig, splash, chase, and burn off energy in a natural, low-pressure environment. Weekdays are beautifully quiet and perfect for group adventures. Best suited to water dogs and confident off leash explorers.

Royal Park

Royal Park’s huge off leash grasslands are ideal for dogs who thrive in open space. The mixture of native bush areas, winding trails, and large fields offers endless scent trails and opportunities for natural play. It is a great adventure for dogs who prefer ground-level fun over water activities. Perfect for confident, social pups who enjoy relaxed roaming.

The area has lots of soft grass, shady pockets, and low foot traffic on weekdays. Great for polite walkers, seniors, or dogs building confidence.

A popular third visit for January because the conditions, space, and safety make it a standout. The huge shallow flats allow even less confident swimmers to enjoy the water, while social dogs have plenty of opportunities to mingle. It is consistently one of the happiest places for off leash play. Ideal for energetic dogs with good recall.

These beautiful heritage gardens offer peaceful shaded paths and lush plant life, creating a gentle sensory walk for dogs who enjoy calmer outings.
